We mop for nearly two weeks. After three days in Hong Kong, two in the Philippines, we here in Vietnam. Cambodia, originally planned destination, in addition to Vietnam was eventually canceled, in part because of time, partly because of visas. Indeed, we made our requests for visas in Hong Kong. For Vietnam, no problem in a half-day they had. However, for Cambodia, it was a little more long.Or, as we were in the Philippines we needed our passports and the agency that took care of our visas were needed as well. On our return from the Philippines, we would have had to wait three days in Hong Kong before getting the sesame seeds, so do not take only 10 days to Vietnam and Cambodia. Far too short. We therefore preferred visit Vietnam and Cambodia may be next year.
In Vietnam, we decided to make few trips, we flew well enough before. So we billeted in Hanoi, Ha Long and Cat Ba. The next time we go to the northwest of the country (and Sapa rice terraces) and south (Ho Chi Minh City). Today, we visited Ha Long Bay by boat, it's magic, really bad there are too many people.
Surprise, but it's pretty cool and the sun is not present, but fortunately it does not rain.
Another surprise: the authoritarian communist Vietnamese government censorship of websites: Facebook in particular, and I had great difficulty accessing Blogger.
Finally, 2010 is a year of anniversaries: the 1000 years of Hanoi, the 130 years since the birth of Ho Chi Minh, and apparently the 80th anniversary of Vietnamese communism.
This country we like; we really want to go back to know him better.
